HUGE Animal Jam Update! Corrupt Mira Statues, Bat-Eared Foxes, Crafting Crystals & MORE! (April 2022)
Hey Jammers! Hope you're well.
In this post, I'll be overviewing the latest Animal Jam update that began rolling out (release date/time was different for different platforms) around April 27th-28th.
Let's get into it!
On the first page, we have Corrupt Mira Statues!
This is pretty cool! It appears we have a new type of battle-able (is that a word? I don't think so) NPC in-game. This is a follow-up to last week's update where Liza revealed that the Phantoms had managed to steal Mira's precious feather. Since then, the Phantoms have created corrupted versions of the statue and those statues are swarming Jamaa. Yikes. Similar to the Phantoms, you'll need a Paintseed Launcher Pack to battle these, as well as a supply of Paintseeds. Paintseed Launcher Packs can be found at the Shop in Alpha Headquarters, while Paintseeds can be found via Paintseed Trees which can be purchased in Alpha Headquarters or found throughout the Phantom Dimension. These Corrupted Mira Statues have some pretty sweet prizes, which we'll find out more about in a few more pages.
On the second page, we have the announcement that Bat-Eared Foxes are Here!
The Bat-Eared Fox is a pretty cute animal. It stands out from the regular Fox while still having the Fox feel. It's a relatively neutral animal, so all kinds of looks will look nice on it, though I think it leans a little further away from being perfect for cutesy looks than the regular Fox and Fennec Fox do.
Here's the Flor de los Muertos Outfit:
Personally, I have mixed opinions on this outfit. I do like that Animal Jam is including and celebrating different cultures and styles in their outfit sets, but this is also not really my style. The mask is also really reminding me of a previously released item, the Epic Skull Mask (just an observation, I don't really mind).

Aaaand here's the Epic Galaxy Outfit:
Personally, I like this outfit more than the Flor de los Muertos Outfit, but it's still not my favourite. I think on the right animal with the right aesthetic it could be pretty cool but it's a bit overbearing with the helmet and the glasses. I'd prefer if the head item was some kind of star antenna or dizzy galaxy stars to make it less overbearing. I also really don't like the tail. My pet peeve with Animal Jam is how tail items always replace the tail rather than go with it. I much prefer how it is in Animal Jam Classic where it goes OVER the tail. This tail item has literally obliterated the tail and wiped it into nonexistence. See this:

It freaks me out! Like, what happened to the tail?
Overall, I like this animal and I don't mind the bundle either. My favourite items in the bundle are the Epic Galaxy Boots and Epic Galaxy Collar.
On the third page, we have Crafting Crystals!
OMG! After YEARS of being requested, crafting has arrived in Animal Jam! To summarise, the Corrupted Mira Statues are dropping Crafting Crystals when defeated, and those Crafting Crystals can be used to craft unique items that can't be found anywhere else! Gonna be totally honest here - I haven't had enough time to fully explore this feature, so I can't say too much about it. I'm excited to mess around with this feature and craft some awesome items in the future!
On the fourth page, we have Masterpiece Wallpaper and Flooring!
This is really cool! Players can now make their own custom flooring and wallpaper via the Painting activity. This makes dens more customisable than ever, and it's incredible! These are tradeable, which is really great for the AJ economy - I love one-of-a-kind items like masterpieces in the economy. I'm looking forward to seeing the wallpapers and floors that Jammers create!
On the fifth page, we have the new Pack Run - Firefly Frenzy!
The Firefly Frenzy has returned for the fifth year (that's wild - I remember when it was brand new!). This year's prize outfit set appears to be the Cute Firefly outfit set which was released last year. I'm assuming there are five colour variants of the set to be earned, as usual.
I don't have the Cute Firefly outfit set at the moment so I can't show them off, but you can find out about all the set pieces on the Animal Jam Wiki here.
On the sixth and final page, we have some facts about Bat-Eared Foxes!
Can we just talk about how cute this Bat-Eared Fox is? OMG. 🥺

But wait, there's more news!
A few days ago, Animal Jam announced an exciting promotion via their YouTube and social medias. This video also reveals an upcoming pet (Pet Highland Cow) and den (Farmstead Province), which are expected to release in May. The Highland Cow looks SO cute, and the Farmstead Province looks promising too. A decorated version of the Farmstead Province can actually already be accessed via the Epic Dens menu in-game. Pretty cool!
